In my kitchen… September 2015

It’s been a long time since I posted an In My Kitchen and this is the first on my new blog.

In my kitchen…

is marmalade.

Every year I get oranges from Mum and Dad’s tree, specifically grown for marmalade. The type of orange is a Joppa, which my Grandmother, who this blog is named after, said was the best variety for making marmalade.

20 jars this year – should see me through until next year.

In my kitchen…

is pot roast chicken.

Beth from Burrawong Gaian has started to sell at Carriageworks Farmers Market (formerly Everleigh Farmers Market) on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturday of the month.

I bought one of her delicious birds and French pot roasted it.

In my kitchen…

was a quick meal one night of smoked salmon pasta.

You know how sometimes you just can’t be bothered fussing? This is a regular on the menu.

In my kitchen…

are lamb shanks. Slow braised in the oven for six hours. Enough said.

In my kitchen…

was a disaster.

The element in the oven died. It took the real estate agent a week and a half to get the element replaced – that’s a really long time for a baker and cook!

In my kitchen…

is my bento stash. I make up mini beef & pork burgers and chicken burgers and freeze them for easy to assemble lunches. I also make up the side dishes once a week to go with them.

In my kitchen…

is my sourdough. Felicia, daughter of Priscilla, is doing mighty well.

One plain and one fruit loaf.

Thanks to Celia from Fig Jam and Lime Cordial for hosting the monthly In My Kitchen, check out the other kitchens.

  1. What else do you put in the pasta? Is it just smoked salmon and grated cheese? Any olive oil?

    • Andrew Andrew

      Cream and shallots. 🙂

  2. I wish I like marmalade, it looks gorgeous. I think from all these sensational looking dishes I would vote 1 for the pasta. Thanks for sharing 🙂
